Guest Speakers
The Exchange Club of Bellevue is always grateful for our weekly guest speakers who give of their time to inform us of issues affecting our community. We encourage not only our members, but the community as well, to support these individuals and their associated endeavors.
Captain Marlene Pardue, a 17-year Metro Police Department veteran who most recently served as the supervisor over the Homicide -Cold Case unit. Captain Pardue was promoted to sergean in 1993 and to lieutenant in 1998. Shenow commands the department's Youth Services Division.
Rueben Ford, CSX Railroad - Reuben Ford explained CSX's diversity and mentoring programs along with discussing railroad operations.
Captain Michelle Donegan of the Domestic Violence Section of the Metro Nashville Police Department thinks that you should know some of the warning signs of Domestic Abuse and the responses you can receive. Look through our sections below and see if there are multiple warning signs that are occurring in your life. Then look to see the responses available, which can help you and your family out of this type of situation. Remember domestic violence does not tend to end but escalate in both severity and frequency the longer a victim waits before taking action.
Dr. Steve Chauncy, Principal, Hillwood High School. Dr. Chauncy spoke on the many excellent intiatives ongoing at Hillwood H.S. Among the many is an intiative to provide laptops to all incoming freshman students and partnering with businesses to provide essential services. This is Hillwood's 50th year anniversary and celebration activities are being planned for the spring. One of the major issues at HIllwood, as with other Nashville high schools, is the continuing mobility of the student population.

Terry Coats, President, Nashvillle Chattanooga & St. Louis Railroad Preservation Society -talking about the Nashville and Northwestern Railroad that came through Nashville (digging of the Gulch) and extended out to Bellevue and Kingston Springs. He is currently completing a “coffee table” hardbound book titled “Depots of the NC&STL Railway”.

Deana Claiborne, Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy of Middle Tennessee. Deana is responsible for finance, administration, fund-raising, governmental and program related activities for a disability-related organization that serves more than 4,000 people with disabilities and mobilizes over 1,200 volunteers annually.
Carolyn Price, Acting Executive Director, Exchange Club Family Center. The Family Center strives to significantly reduce the occurrence and reoccurrence of child maltreatment in Middle Tennessee. Child maltreatment is defined as the physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse or neglect of children. During 2004, the latest national reporting year, U.S. child protective service agencies substantiated 906,000 cases of children abused or neglected. The actual incidence of abuse and neglect is estimated to be three times greater than the number reported to authorities, meaning the real number is approximately 2,718,000. Each year more than 12,000 children under the age of 18 are abused or neglected in Middle Tennessee.
Clifton Lambreth, author of "Ford and the American Dream".
He has worked for the Ford Motor Company for over twenty years in a variety of positions. Clifton has been a rainmaker at every position he has held and has consistently been a top performer throughout his career at Ford He has received prestigious awards and distinctions including five Ford Inuksuk Drive for Leaders Award and has won three Diversity Leadership awards.

Vickie Balance, Director of Bellevue's FiftyForward Center oversees between 400-500 members per day who actively participate in both physical fitness and learning programs in addition to volunteering for community activities. In addition, Charline Greer, Transportation Coordinator for Fifty Forward received a grant to begin a volunteer driver program aimed at transporting seniors to medical appointments. Dr. Kelly Hargis, Principal of Bellevue Middle School. Dr. Hargis was the Assistant Principal at Hume Fogg and worked in the Nashville Central Office prior to being selected for her current position. Dr. Hargis believes the mission of the Bellevue Middle School should be: Cultivate a love for learning, advance achievement for all, developing quality character and a commitment to community action.
Jim Cooper,Congressman for Tennessee 's 5th District (Davidson, Wilson and Cheatham Counties). Congressman Cooper is the only Tennessean on the Armed Services Committee. He also serves on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. In May 2007, he became one of President Obama's earliest Congressional endorsers. Congressman Cooper was one of 11 Democrats to vote against an $819 billion economic stimulus plan that passed the House in 2009, but eventually accepted the revised $787 billion final package. Congressman Cooper is considered a fiscally conservative Democrat, one of the only two Blue Dog members who don’t seek earmarks.
