Bellevue, Tennessee is a pleasant suburban community, located 13 miles southwest of downtown Nashville. The Bellevue area is defined as the old school district of the Bellevue High School and includes all of 37221, 37205 up to nine mile Hill and part of 37209 zip codes. There are approximately 30,000 residents that love Bellevue because it offers the best of life in small town America, but is also conveniently located close to one of America’s best southern cites. Not long ago, Bellevue was a small rural community that was surrounded by farms. Back then, the community was mostly located along the railroad tracks near the Harpeth River and had only a few buildings such as a hardware store, a post office and a Masonic lodge hall.

In the 1970s, growth of Nashville in general and the widening of the highway through town encouraged more people to settle in Davidson. Luckily, for residents of Davidson, the small-town atmosphere has remained and adds today to the quality of life here.
The suburbanization was made official when the United States Postal Service changed the designation of the office to a branch of the Nashville office in the late 1970s.

Since the year 2000, Bellevue has grown in population and development not only in the already established areas along Old Hickory Boulevard and Hwy 70S, but also in the more affluent and rural developments off Tennessee State Highway 100. The three commercial retail areas in the Bellevue area are located near the Highway 70/I-40 interchange; at the intersection of Highway 70 and Old Hickory Boulevard; and near the
intersection of Old Harding Pike and Highway 100.

The Bellevue Center Mall, now vacant except for Sears, has been sold to a California firm, Foursquare Properties. Foursquare plans to transform the mall into an open-air lifestyle center with major retail anchors. There are plans for restaurants, office and retail space, and a public library to be developed. However, due to recent economic conditions, work has been postponed.

The Bellevue Picnic is hosted each year by the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, and is one of the longest running community picnics in the country.

Harpeth Valley Elementary School, an academic award winning school, is located on the outskirts of Bellevue along State Route 100, For the past three years, the academic proficiency of HVES students in third-fourth grades has been measured by TCAP academic achievement grades. During the 2005-2006, 2006-2007, and 2007-2008 school years, HVES students posted the following letter grades: Mathematics – A; Reading/Language – A; Social Studies – A; and Science – A. What a stellar academic performance!

The 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway, which begins in Bellevue, TN., commemorates an ancient trail used by animals and people that connected southern portions of the Mississippi River, through Alabama, to salt licks in today's central Tennessee. Today, visitors can experience this National Scenic Byway and All-American Road through driving, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and camping.

Edwin and Percy Warner Parks, collectively known as “The Warner Parks,” and located adjacent to Bellevue, span 2684 acres of forest and fields. Over 500,000 people visit the Parks annually to utilize picnic areas, scenic roadways and overlooks, hiking trails, equestrian center and horse trails, cross country running courses, golf courses, athletic fields, and other areas of the park. Warner Parks is also an important historical community resource listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
